Half of 2026 Is Already Behind Us

Half of 2026 is now officially behind us, and as we begin the second half of the year, we hope everyone enjoys a safe and enjoyable summer at Malad City Park.

Due to complaints regarding misuse of the new playground equipment and ongoing acts of vandalism at the park, the Malad City Council recently adopted a new Park Ordinance. The ordinance is intended to help protect city facilities and ensure that all residents can safely enjoy the park and its amenities.

Some of the key provisions of the ordinance include:

General Park Rules

• The park is closed from 11:30 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., except during approved special events. Individuals found in the park during closed hours may be asked to leave.
• Defacing or damaging any park property, whether real or personal, is prohibited.
• Damaging trees or other vegetation within the park is prohibited.
• Animals must be kept on a leash, and owners are responsible for cleaning up after their pets. Loose animals are not permitted.
• Firearms are prohibited in the park.
• Fires are allowed only in designated and approved fire areas.
• Smoking, vaping, and the consumption of alcoholic beverages are prohibited unless specifically authorized by permit from the city.

Walking Path

• The walking path is open to pedestrians, traditional bicycles, and qualifying electric bicycles that do not exceed 20 miles per hour.
• Gasoline-powered vehicles are prohibited unless authorized by the city or used for city maintenance purposes.

Splash Pad

• Children must be supervised at all times.
• Running and climbing on splash pad equipment or water structures is prohibited.
• Food, beverages, and glass containers are not allowed within the splash pad area.
• Animals are prohibited, with the exception of service animals.
• Children who are not potty-trained must wear swim diapers.

Pickleball Courts

• No food or beverages are permitted on the courts, except water in appropriate containers.
• Pets are not allowed on the courts.
• Profane language and inappropriate behavior are prohibited.
• Bicycles, scooters, skateboards, and similar equipment are not permitted on the courts.

Parking and Camping

• Parking is allowed only in designated parking areas.
• Campers are permitted only with authorization from the city.

These are only a portion of the rules contained in the new Park Ordinance. Park rules will be posted throughout the park in the near future. Residents are encouraged to review and follow these regulations to help keep our park safe, clean, and enjoyable for everyone.
