Malad City has hired a new city clerk! Susan Wittman retired from the city after 47 years of dedicated service. We will miss Susan and her expertise, but she has agreed to continue to advise our new clerk, Kacey Keller, to make a smooth transition. We hope you will stop in and say hello to Kacey.

The community will have one more chance to have some fun with the upcoming Oneida County Fair and Horse Races. The Oneida County Fair Board works hard all year to prepare for these events. Oneida County 4-H’ers have also worked hard on their projects, so let’s all support them and see what they have learned and accomplished this year. But also, be sure to show off your talents and enter some of the categories in the Fair. Check The Idaho Enterprise, Malad City website (maladidaho.org), and social media for a list of events.

The contractor for Bannock Street has informed the city that Bannock Street residents now have until September 14 to replace private sewer connections, if they desire.

Signs will soon be placed in the Malad City Park for rules on use of the park and equipment. There are several concerns: (1) Campers and RV’s are welcome at Malad City Park, but there are areas where they are not allowed; (2) Problems continue with dogs not being properly cared for on the walking path; (3) The fire pit is available for fires, but the fire must be attended and the fire properly extinguished; (4) The new playground was built through donations of time and money from local residents and businesses. Other than the swings, the playground equipment was not built for adult use. We continue to find adults and older teens playing on the children’s equipment. (Regarding motorized vehicles, occasionally city workers must use vehicles on the path for clean-up or emergencies.)
