What are the advantages of donating to the OEF?

All donations to the OEF are tax deductible.  Check with your tax adviser for detailed information about the tax benefits of your donation.  Any person or business that donates $1000 or more will be inducted into the OEF Heritage Club.  The biggest reward for donating to the OEF is the knowledge you are continuing to support your Oneida County schools.

How can donations be made to the OEF?

All persons who wish to make a donation to the OEF in their own names, in the names of others, or in the name of a business or organization have several options.  Donations can be made for specific projects or purposes( designated funds) or for general use by the OEF (undesignated funds).  Donors may work with the OEF in establishing criteria for projects to be funded or for selection of recipients of scholarship funds.

What kind of donations can be made to the OEF?

The OEF is happy to accept many kinds of donations.  The following are just a few ways and are explained below:

When you decide what kind of donation you would like to make, just fill in the contribution form at the bottom of this page and submit or print it out and send it with your donation to the address found at the bottom of the page.

Individual Donations

Any individual who wishes to make a donation to the OEF in his/her own name or in the name of someone else, including memorials, may contact any member of the board to make the arrangements for the donation.  Donations may be either designated or undesignated. Individuals may also participate in OEF fund-raising activities, such as donating to the annual telethon or purchasing a parking space for the Malad High School football games.

Endowments

Several families in Oneida County have established Endowment Funds to benefit students in the Oneida County schools.  Families or individuals who whish to establish endowments for the OEF may contact the chair of the OEF for more information.  Generally, a significant sum of money is donated to the OEF, sometimes in the memory of a family member, and then invested with the interest used as stipulated by the donor.  The OEF will assist the donors in fund-raising efforts for the endowment.  The donor will want to contact an attorney and an accountant to ensure that the benefits of the tax laws are realized.

Business Donations

Almost every business in Oneida County and those that employ Oneida County residents have donated money to the OEF to fund curriculum/classroom projects and scholarships.  A business representative who wishes to make a donation to the OEF may contact any board member.  The donor may work with the OEF to establish criteria for the use of the fund.

Payroll Deductions

Employees of the Oneida County School district may have donations to the OEF automatically deducted from their paychecks.  Arrangements for such deductions must be made with the School District Business Manager at the beginning of the school year.

United Way Payroll Deductions

Employees of northern Utah companies that participate in the United Way of Northern Utah campaign may designate the OEF as the organization to receive their United Way payroll deductions.  The OEF is the only Idaho organization that receives funding from the United Way of Northern Utah.  Any employee who wishes her/her contribution to return to Oneida County should designate the OEF as the recipient agency when their company United Way campaign begins each year.

In-Kind Donations

In-kind donations of materials and equipment may be made to the schools through the OEF

Contribution Matching

Many large companies will match individual donations to nonprofit educational foundations.  Those who work for such corporations may want to check to see if their company is a matching donor.
