As you look at legal resources on the Internet, it is extremely important to know what sources of information are reliable, accurate and up-to-date.  Internet and Web resources are changing all of the time and you want to make sure that you are reaching sites that are reliable and accurate.  The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation used the following criteria to select legal resource sites:

bulletThe Web site publisher is clearly identified and can be contacted from the site.
bulletThe Web site's purpose is stated in writing and is obvious when looking at the content.
bulletThe information provided is comprehensive or uniquely important to legal research.
bulletThe Web site is well known in the legal community.  It is cited in multiple subject resources, both print and online.
bulletThe information provided is current and regularly updated.  Revision dates are posted on the site.
bulletThe Web site is well organized and easy to use.  Multimedia features enhance, rather than distract from, the content offerings.
bulletThe Web site includes a search or index function for easier navigation.

A searchable Web site with links to federal and state forms, cases and codes.  Provides information about labor laws, employment discrimination, bankruptcy, divorce, and many other topics.  Offers the LawCrawler legal search engine.

A comprehensive index of online information about law and the legal profession.  Provides law firm listings, legal forms, government documents, and the LawRunner legal search engine.
bullet'Lectric Law Library
Presents legal information in a light-hearted format.  Visit the rotunda for information on many legal topics, including wills and estate planning, consumer rights and protection, employment issues, family law, and property and debt issues.

Offers legal forms for purchase including federal, state, business, personal, real estate, and general forms covering hundreds of legal subjects and issues.  Document cost range from $6-$30 each.

A clearly organized directory of U.S. codes, federal legislation, and Supreme Court and other federal court rulings.  Includes links to state laws and government materials.

Provides basic information to help you get through your divorce.  includes links to state-specific information.
bulletNational Fair Housing Advocate Online
Provides the general public with timely news and information regarding housing discrimination.  Features news, case research, and a guide to federal housing issues.

Tenant information on this site focuses on New York, but you can also search for tenant information from other states.

Employment and Labor Resources

A well-organized directory of labor and employment law information, with links to Web sites such as the National Labor Relations Board and the ACLU Workplace Rights, as well as a wide range of other resources.
bullet U.S. Business Advisor--Laws and Regulations
Offers links to the most commonly requested Web sites for business law, including sites with regulations affecting small businesses.  Also provides a legal encyclopedia.

Senior Legal Resources
