A special city council workshop was held August 16 at 7:00 p.m. Mayor Horsley presided with council members Larry Thomas, Tom Jenkins, Ruth Zivkovic, and Joe Thomas present. Also in attendance were Treasurer Terrill Schwartz and Clerk Susan Wittman.

Treasurer Terrill Schwartz presented to the council a budget worksheet that Mayor Horsley and himself prepared. Mayor Horsley went through the budget with the council.

Tom moved to approve a 3% salary increase for the city employee and a 5% salary increase to Superintendent Sid Hess. Clerk Susan Wittman will also receive $200.00 extra each month for helping the treasurer. Terrill decreased his wages $200.00 3 month prior.

Ruth moved to adopt a tentative budget of $860,200 for fiscal year October 1, 2000 to September 30, 2001, and called for a public hearing September 5, 2000 at 6:00 p.m. Joe seconded the motion. The motion carried.
