ANNUAL EVENTS 2009

Easter Egg Hunt April 11, 10 am Kids from all over meet at various parks to hunt for candy eggs.  When they find golden eggs they can redeem them for one dollar. 10 a.m.  There is also an Easter Breakfast at the City Park.
Classy Country Classics Car Show May 2

 

Hot Rods, Customs, Classics and Restored automobiles from miles around.  Local merchants give sponsor's choice awards to the drivers of their favorite cars.  Games, Prizes, and Craft Booths make this a fun activity for the whole family.

3rd annual Bucking Bull futurity May 16, The fair board will host the 3rd annual Bucking Bull futurity and derby at the Oneida county fairgrounds. Bucking yearling and 2 year old bulls at 1000 a.m. Free to public. Bucking 3 and 4 year old bulls Sat. Night. Tickets $8 and $5 for students. For more info cal Travis Udy @766-3318.
Le Grande Aqua Plunge Swimming Pool Opening Early June There are classes for the kids, Aerobics for those who want to stay fit, and open swimming all summer long.

Independence Day Celebrations     
Bed Race and Malad Idol July 3 2 days of fun for the whole family: Bed Race- Contestants race beds through town and compete for prizes, after the race there are games for all ages.  Later that evening is the Malad Idol contest that anyone can enter - Admission is FREE!!

July 3rd - 4th  The 4th starts with the Cannonade waking you up in time for the Early Bird Breakfast at Pioneer Park.  Then comes the Parade, followed by "The Wild West Shoot Out" - a family favorite. During the whole day there are softball games, Cow Pie Bingo, craft booths, Pit Bar-B Q- Beef Lunch, 4-H Auction, Live Entertainment, and food and games for the Entire Family.  Then at dark Malad Sponsors a fantastic Fireworks Display. The Malad Valley Theater Guild puts on several live productions.
Samaria Celebration July 24, 25 This event celebrates Samaria's history and heritage.  There is a parade, music, dances, baseball, a kids carnival, and old fashioned contests

Pari-Mutuel Horse Races August 1,2 and 8,9 These races offer as much as a $20,000 purse.

Parade of Homes Dec. Local residents decorate their homes for the holiday season and invite the public to enjoy their creations.
Fireman's Ball   Held in the American Legion building, this celebration honors Malad's  volunteer firemen.  Dance to live music, socialize with friends and receive great door prizes.
