The City of Malad has a growing economy. It is a perfect location for small businesses or existing industries that are looking to open a new firm, or relocate. Employees of local businesses love the small town atmosphere, but also enjoy the comforts that larger cities have to offer. Malad draws from a large workforce with a history of excellent work ethics.

Low interest rates from the SICOG Revolving Loan Fund and the SBA are available. Idaho has also reduced it Workers Comp rate.

Distribution is facilitated by the fact that Malad is located between several larger cities, such as Pocatello ID, and Logan UT. Salt Lake City is only 1.5 hours by freeway. Use the local Airport to hop to and from other cities for important meetings or vacations.

The Industrial Park is in a prime location for industries. It has railroad services, and is located near an Interstate 15 Exit. Rent is only $20 an acre per month!! There is power, sewer, water and roads already in place.

The Idaho National Environmental Engineering Laboratory located only a few hours away offers companies the ability to form technology partnerships. The INEEL also works with educational institutions to ensure that graduates are highly skilled in technical areas.

A skilled employee base is already present in Malad and the surrounding towns. Most residents currently work for industries such as Thiokol, La-Z-Boy chair company, Nucor Steel, etc..

The local high school offers several technical certification programs (A+, Cisco CCNA, Novell CNA, Microsoft MCP). The students enrolled in these computer training courses are skilled in networking, hardware/software maintenance and design of multimedia applications. Also housed within Malad High School is a Distance Learning Center.

CanaMex Super Highway

A far-reaching proposal is in the works to create a corridor of innovation along Interstate 15, from Canada to Mexico.

This CanaMex corridor would pass through Montana, Idaho, Utah, Nevada and Arizona and the draft plan estimates it would

Five western states — Idaho, Montana, Utah, Nevada and Arizona — are proposing a plan to develop a corridor of innovation along Interstate 15 from Canada to Mexico.
